Late one Friday evening in 2010 I received a phone call and learned (shockingly) that I had been accepted into the Low Residency program for poetry at Queens University of Charlotte.  I guess my husband had either forgotten I was applying or dismissed the conversation thinking it was another crazy idea but regardless lets just say he was surprised to learn that not only did I apply and get in but that I accepted over the phone without consulting him first.  The following two years was complete and utter insanity or just left me completely insane however, when it was all said and done, I learned and stretched in ways that I never could have imagined, I made a friend named Douggie Fresh (not that one) and (yes just one friend but he's special) and wrote a collection of poetry centered around the Dred Scott case. Oh, and getting my MFA was pretty cool too.
